Original Arirang recording in 1896 was titled "Love Song: Ar-ra-rang": youtu.be/fsLKVakaJFw
For anyone in/visiting the Washington DC area, the orig 6 cylinders of the recording are stored at the Library Of Congress in their Folklife Reading Room.
*BTS added their 7th to the orig 6 in the animation
On the left are the varieties of the Mugunghwa, a hibiscus, the official flower of Korea.
It's also called the Rose of Sharon and it grows outside Gyeongbokgung. Its flower meaning is "eternal blossom that never fades"

oh wow ok adding that to my need-to-go list!
IM COOKED
I find it so significant that BTS have never made their faces or likeness the focus of their group album covers. It was always a very conceptual graphic design that placed the focus on the music rather than themselves. But this moment right nowβitβs about them as artists. Itβs perfect.

The seven Koreans that recorded Arirang at Howard University in 1896
BTS is so cool man
I NEEEEEEEEED ITTTTTTTT
oh my god OH MY GOD
omg album cover is out???
i really wish i could articulate this better but i just find it so interesting that that sort of link exists between bts' arirang and their own musical history and sound ^^
i think it's also worth noting that the first recording of arirang, a korean cultural treasure was at howard university, an hbcu (historically black college or university)
bts derives much of its inspiration from black culture and art! art is so cyclical!!
that trailer was so beautiful, 2d has always been my favorite storytelling medium! i wonder which studio did this hmm
here were the credits in the description!
this was so beautiful, i love animation and i love bts
