I'm pretty sure this metric is a bit like reinventing the wheel squared, but hey let me know how you quantify plascity in your setting. Here is a link to access the paper without a paywall (for now):

This led us to especulate how plasticity varies with ecological strategy. We suggest it peaks at intermediate resource investment, being lower in low-investment (R-like) and lowest at high-investment (K-like) species. Even if not universally true, we must evaluate plasticity more systematically!
Relative Plasticity (in %) is defined as the distance in PCA space between the centroids of a species observations under two conditions, normalized by the largest distance (the most plastic species).
How to assess the plasticity of a given species across environmental conditions when you've measured tons of variables?
We introduced a simple method that led to a provocative ecophysiological hypothesis about photosynthetic plasticity & leaf resource investment:

The most profound insights are often also the most simple:
growth-rate, by setting the dilution rate of intra-cellular molecules, controls the sensitivity of gene regulatory circuits. In retrospect it seems crazy that this effect seems to have been overlooked so far.

Apparently not learning the world also has its own rewards (evidenced by current political affairs). Acting on a rigid internal model, but in a place of public evidence, may lead to spurious validation of such model..
Happy to share our manuscript on the in situ visualization of the copia retrotransposon in its final form today published in @cellcellpress.bsky.social www.cell.com/cell/fulltex.... Whatβs new?
One of my all-time favorites!
π£We're very excited to be sponsoring the first ever #PlantScience #chronobiology meeting of its kind ππ±
The clock is ticking, so register here π

#FluorescenceFriday An old video of a cute mast cell (RBL-2H3) exhibiting cortical waves of active Cdc42 after getting treated with cytochalasin-D overnight. Sorry not sorry to kill #actin hehe. #TIRF 4 s per frame acquisition, 8 fps, 32Γ real time.
What was left in Turing's notebooks after his tragic death? Great insights into the maths of morphogenesis that were never published, including the Swift-Hohenberg model that was rediscovered decades later. people.bath.ac.uk/jhpd20/publi...
