✨ As a surprising observation in the ESD-STM images of the polymers, we found that some of the polymer chains close over themselves, suggesting the formation of cycles composed of up to 15 macrocycle-thiophene repeat units. 4/5

⚑The macrocycles retain their excellent redox properties in the polymer. Furthermore, the polymers did not dissolve in the electrolyte used for film CV measurements, enabling reversible redox behavior in solid-state applications.

πŸ”¬ In collaboration with the Heeney group (KAUST & Imperial), Plasser group (Loughborough), and Costantini group (Birmingham), we introduce a novel approach: incorporating conjugated macrocycles into polymer backbones! No aliphatic side chains neededβ€”yet the polymers remain soluble. 2/5

Sequential curing of first a radical network during 3D printing and second a cationic network during post-curing into an interpenetrating network.

Have you been wanting to #3Dprint materials with late gel-points but were too impatient with the long printing times? Our dual-cure printing technique recently published in #MaterialsHorizons may be the answer: doi.org/10.1039/D4MH...
