I really enjoyed my conversation with @yveshanoulle.bsky.social in episode 197 of his podcast Who Is Agile.

The paper copy won't be ready until next spring... this is the early access release. When hardcopy is available I'm pretty sure it will be stocked by the online book sellers - and it should be orderable by your local bookshop.

Our 40+ automation patterns have been crowd-sourced from the #BDD community and are presented in a language agnostic fashion. Examples in the main text of the book will use #Reqnroll, but we document variations for other ports of #Cucumber in the appendices (and in the example code on the website).

BCS Edinburgh Branch event: 01/10/25 What We Lost When We Stopped Doing UML

I'm looking forward to this retro on UML in Edinburgh next week. Free entry; drinks and pizza.

Register at edinburgh.bcs.org/events/2025/...

It's strange how bits of UML are still used widely, but that you never really hear it mentioned.

@aiannucci.bsky.social @helenlewis.bsky.social Strong Recommend: Sylvia Townsend Warner. Most popular is Lolly Willowes, but I enjoyed The Corner That Held Them even more.

Another author who never wrote the same book twice.

Last month AI crawlers generated 90% of my site's traffic, forcing me to pay penalties

Problem solved after moving nameservers to Cloudflare+turning on AI crawler blocking.

Site monthly outbound data back to ~40GB per month, down from 800GB (!!) No impact on human visitors

James Shore

Really pleased that James Shore, author of "The Art of Agile Development", is making the trip to keynote this year's Agile Cambridge.

And "high maintenance" isn't far from "unmaintainable" either.

John Seddon's "Systems Thinking in the Public Sector" is a much more enjoyable read than the title might lead you to believe. And just as relevant today as it was when it was published in 2008.
