My @naturecanada.bsky.social colleagues and I were heartened by the deep collaboration between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Canadians.

Today marks World Rivers Day; a global celebration of the vital waterways that sustain life around the world. It’s a moment to recognize the beauty, power, and importance of rivers, and a time to recommit ourselves to protecting them.

Clearcutting diverse forests and replacing them with monocultures harms wildlife. Forests are complex networks of many parts working together to build a thriving ecosystem. Once they’ve been clearcut they’re never the same and wildlife like moose suffer.

Newborn orca spotted with Northwest's endangered J Pod The orca J pod has been very active in Central Puget Sound waters Friday, and they've got reason to be animated: There's a new calf.

JPod news! There's a new calf! This is a healthy baby born to 'Echo'.

The Southern Resident Killer Whales have also been spotted all over the place after being away for most of the summer.
