Commissioners bulldoze residents over development
Glynn County isnβt rural anymore. Dark skies splashed with stars, large acre lots quilted with forests, the peaceful hush after sunset: all things of the past. Residents need to get
"Commissioner-sponsored projects should align with constituent needs. Based on the bulldozing that occurred at the last commissioner meeting, resident input on these decisions is being left in the dirt."
South Coast Advocate Kat Montgomery slays in this LTE.

Column/Perspective: Nature has a way of shaping beaches on its own
I canβt figure exactly what we want when it comes to the sand on St. Simons Islandβs beach.
"Iβm sure the DNR and the County Commission will put a lot of thought in it before making the right choice. Iβm also sure that the wind from one storm could conspire with the ocean to wipe out whatever they do.
"I donβt know why, but I find a lot of encouragement in that."

Rules around construction of private recreational docks in Georgia's wetlands raise concerns
At a recent town hall, environmentalists presented demands that tangled with those of dock-builders, each carrying a bone to pick with the state's proposed rules.
"When you allow more private docks to be constructed, you're basically privatizing the marshlands that are public resources,β said OHM VP of Coastal Conservation Alice Keyes. βDeath by a thousand cuts is the last thing that the Georgia coast needs to be known as.β

Local group opposes proposal to allow drilling off Georgia's coast
The federal government is considering opening Georgiaβs coast to oil drilling again despite a 10-year moratorium placed on it during President Donald Trumpβs first administration and former President ...
βLeasing areas in the Atlantic Ocean for offshore oil and gas development puts all coasts at risk... Such a significant shift in federal policy would risk the fragile and unique ecosystems that make the region special.β
