One "good" thing about my dog's UTI -- she's been getting me up at 4:30 a.m. every morning the last few days. So, I've finally joined the 5 a.m. writer's club.

(She's on medicine and getting better.)

Bonnie Friedman:
A young painter comes to Michelangelo and says, 'I've seen your religious paintings. Teach me to depict the human soul.'
'Fine,' he says. 'Learn to paint a human knuckle. Observe it closely...study its shifts of color. You paint a soul only by painting a knuckle.'

OK then. That was quite an interview. The guy kept insulting the journalist but couldn’t stop talking.

I would pay a boatload of money for someone to teach my corgi Clyde or Claudia’s corgi Gracie to do this. But I think only Gracie would be adventurous enough to take to it

Only GGK book I've read is Tigana, which I enjoyed. What should I read next?

Thank you for all the replies -- it was a pleasant surprise! I've chosen an artist to move forward with for this round. Hopefully, there will be more projects to come.

No, I haven't decided on anything.

Thanks for the interest! I've turned on my DM.
I really have no preconceived elements in mind, other than that illustration might serve better than photos -- something that communicates that these are light-hearted, funny stories about a fictional outdoors club (same characters throughout).

Still need help with my book cover. Fiction. Humorous outdoor stories. Adult. Limited budget. Suggestions welcome.

Yesterday was the 50th anniversary of the release of "Jaws." We streamed the movie last night, and it had a special introduction by Spielberg.
After 50 years, it's still one of the finest examples of pure cinema.

What kind of book cover should a collection of humorous outdoor stories have?
The stories center around a fictional outdoors club. They range from the adventurous and wacky to paranormal. Needs to appeal to adults (not YA), and hopefully to both men and women.

My wife just said, “Are you even listening to me?”
I thought that was a weird way to start a conversation. 🤷‍♂️

Book designers blame thumbnails. Maybe, but I love the old paperbacks.

If you were going to publish a modern version of the 1982 bestseller "Real Men Don’t Eat Quiche" by Bruce Feirstein, what would you title it?

Writing is awesome. Writing is power. Writing is stressful. Writing is exhausting.

When we finish a project, no matter how big or small, that feeling moves beyond description.

Keep at it.
