Like I'm sure there's still spaces like that in fandom. Where people can just do dilly hc's and not get offended when someone doesn't agree. But it sure does feel like the loud majority is the other side now. As you said - aggressive and hostile.

- and god forbid you don't agree with them. That you say "Thats cool but its still just a hc." They would rather not accept the given material and attack its creators. All because the creators canon goes against what /they/ think is the absolute truth they conjured up.

Felt. But I don't think it's a problem with the media itself as it's all kind of still the same. The problem lies with the current fandom culture in itself. People are so hellbent on pushing their beliefs/headcanons on to these spaces to unhealthy levels. Preaching that its all canon -
