The invocation of "entanglement" is enticing to a physicist ... :-)
Currently re-reading the "Athrabeth", I think there's something – possibly even interesting 😉 – to be said about the entanglement of body & soul (hröa & fëa), and how that is different for Elves and Humans ...
Thrilled to be co-chairing this summer’s @tolkiensociety.org seminar with @willsherwood.bsky.social on “Arda’s Entangled Bodies and Environments”! The seminar will be online July 5-6. Send in your proposals! www.tolkiensociety.org/events/semin...
I'd love that! As would, I am sure, a lot of Danish Tolkien enthusiasts.
(Unfortunately, I do not think that Queen Margrethe would have the time to do a Danish translation herself directly from the French ... though of course, she /ought/ to 😉)
Marie, Is that booklet avaialable in other than French?
I am very certain that I know quite a few Danes who would absolutely love to be able to read that 😊
Pre-ordered my copy of the Tolkien 2019 proceedings from the @tolkiensociety.org
While I would have loved to have it earlier, it is important to acknowledge that the editing work has been on a volunteer basis – many thanks to @willsherwood.bsky.social

Marcel’s “Roving Ranger” newsletter is very much worth one’s time (& a contribution on Steady)
Re-ordering my office and thought it was time for a couple of new #Tolkien #Shelfie
The bottom shelves hold @mythlore.bsky.social, "Inklings Studies", "Lembas Extra" from Unquendor, Peter Roe booklets, and on the other, my copies of "Amon Hen" from @tolkiensociety.org
In Bree (the Copenhagen Smial & TS) we will meet and have a nice meal together before ending the day with the Birthday Toast. 🍻🥃
I look very much forward to that!
All in all, I suppose that there are disabilities for which a week in a tent with 40,000 other Guides & Scouts is just not possible, and though I think people will go far to find solutions, in some cases, it just isn't possible.
With an expected price tag of about £250.- for a full week including transport, food, and activities, it's not exactly cheap, but it should be affordable for most families in Denmark (and support can usually be found if not).
Not being queer myself, it can be difficult to assess, but Guides & Scouts do participate in the Pride in uniform wearing rainbow neckers.
The attitudes in local groups can vary a lot, and may not always meet the official standards of inclusiveness.
Disabilities that require that you need a wheelchair can be a bit difficult on camp, but I've seen quite a lot of them, and the general feeling seems to be that "we make it work".
Shops and other 'official' structures can be accessed, though not all activities will be possible.
I tried to apply that to our "Jamboree Denmark" done by the Guides and Scouts in Denmark, though doing it for the fourth time in 2026 might stretch the "proof of concept" bit ....
#TThnsdwohatdw .... 😉
So, the “Perspectives on Fantasy” book series (Bloomsbury) I’m co-editing with @mjrsangster.bsky.social and Brian Attebery has grown! 6 books out (left) and more due out soon (right)! And even more that don’t have a cover as yet! Will post updates!

What Jeremy said 😊🙏
So ... the end!
I have compiled 10 pages of notes from the Christopher #Tolkien Centenary Conference over this weekend.
I am enthused, energised, and at the same time exhausted.
What a wonderful weekend!! Thank you, again, to all involved!

Some speakers reach out to all their audience – Verlyn Flieger draws us in to an almost intimate space. She is truly a wonderful speaker as well as an extraordinary Tolkien scholar.

Verlyn Flieger!!! 🤩

The analytical framework that James Tauber and others are building with the @digitaltolkien.com project is utterly brilliant!
I have long felt that the multi-dimensional history of Tolkien's Silmarillion world can only be represented digitally
... and now Michael Drout is being followed by James Tauber.
This physicist is getting a double-nerd-out evening 😅
#CJRT100
I can't help myself but absolutely LOVE 😍 the use of various multivariate techniques from linear algebra on word frequencies in "The Lord of the Rings" by #Tolkien .
Michael Drout using this to tie to the revision history of a chapter just makes it even better!
#CJRT100
There's a break in the Christopher #Tolkien Centenary Conference, and our tea isn't quite ready yet ... so of course I spend the time reading in Shippey's “The Road to Middle-earth” ... I mean ... what else? 😂

I couldn't quite phrase it as a sensible question, but I'd love to hear Robin's thoughts about Tolkien's portrayal of strength (i.e. “strong” characters), and particularly the degree to which it can be said to be gendered (masculine).
As J.R.R. Tolkien put it in his Valedictory Address
Wonderfully close reading of Christopher Tolkien's comments on "The Lay of Leithian" in "The Lays of Beleriand" highlighting CJRT as a reader of his father's work.
A consideration of the individual words worthy of the Tolkiens.

So great to hear about Christopher Tolkien as a medieaval scholar in his own right!
Nicholas Birns right now and of course also Doug Anderson yesterday. Really interesting!

Trust a physicst to unravel the strings – whether in two, three, or ten dimensions 😅
