come to me, my sweet mondstadt lore. my first, my favorite; i will hold you close.

i'm also super fascinated with the travelers interactions with the nails, both in the chasm & on sal vindagnyr.

i don't recall what the reasoning was for thinking that all the nails are exhausted, but it would also be odd for a major reoccurring story element to be ignored in the main quest but that could just be me blissfully following narrative signposts.

all this celestial nail talk reminds me of years ago (i can't believe) when i swore we'd see a nail drop in the genshin narrative & it was just a matter of where.

i've gone back on it thinking all the nails are gone but now i'm not sure. celestial nail revival.

definitely think they had to have dropped at different times. iirc there's been references to the nails being dropped for both abyssal cleansing & punishment, it's always made me side-eye, but being dropped for different reasons at different times makes sense.

i got so excited about wormwood i had to type up a whole post about it's lantern rite mention in genshin before i fired up silksong for the evening.

all (3) of these plants are among those i've used personally. there's always a wormwood tincture on my table. there's a whole lot of history behind all three of them & i'm sure this isn't the last we'll be seeing them pop up.

the genus "artemisia" comes from the greek goddess artemis (also diana), which i'm sure is a lunar reference here & thus the connection to zibai.

it is interesting, tho, that we have absinthe, mugwort & wormwood used in divination, & it's lunar link through zibai.

the other (2) worth mentioning are artemisia annua & artemisia absinthium.

a. annua is sweet annie, used in traditional chinese medicine, & a. absinthium is used for, well, making absinthe. both have medicinal properties & have been used in divination. absinthe is part of kaeya's favorite drink.

this is an interesting reference.

ziqiao mentions mugwort here, but breaks out artemisia. artemisia spp. is the genus which mugwort (artemisia vulgaris) belongs, it encompasses other shrubs, many of which have traditionally been used in divination & protection.
