Women in the British Union of Fascists | History Workshop
Why are women drawn to fascist ideologies and movements? The timely rediscovery of Martin Durham's talk - given to History Workshop in 1983, looking back to the 1930s - speaks to pressing questions today.
How did fascist movements in 1930s Britain appeal to women and even former suffragettes?
Martin Durham, in a rediscovered talk given to History Workshop in 1983, and Daniel Jones (@narson.bsky.social) on the continued resonance of these insights in today's world.

Dr Mary McAuliffe: The details of Ann Lovett's tragic death are still harrowing 40 years on
The historian looks back at the loss of the teenager who died after giving birth in a grotto in Granard, 40 years ago today.
Thinking of Ann Lovett today, ##otd 1984, 15yrs old & pregnant, she went to the grotto in Granard where she gave birth to a still born baby boy, she was found sometime later but died shortly after of hypothermia & blood loss. Her story shocked the country #speirgorm www.thejournal.ie/readme/ann-l...
