Two is a good jump in. There really is no over lap with the first game, minus one area, but they don't reference anything from the first game.

If you want an IBO kit that is very different from those you've built, look to see if you can find the Dantalion. It has a giant arms unit, though I am sad that they never released the legs unit for it
