The modern day Malthusian has died. His views were clearly wrong, but he added a 20th century voice to the debate of Population v. Resources.

Having a 'licence' doesn't mean you'll find any gas at all, and even if you find it, it may not be economic to extract it. The price is a global one.. so if any possible NS gas is more expensive to extract than buying from elsewhere, then it won't be extracted. It's called 'economics'!

Agree totally. You can also sense the flak/pressure he gets from others from outside AND within the BBC.

Just listened to Jeremy Bowen on the latest Newscast... especially the final 5 minutes. Wow! He doesn't mince his words, albeit very articulate, about the distastefulness of Trump and his chums.
You can sense the intake of breath from the likes of Chris Mason etc.

Trump and his illegal, poorly planned and ill-conceived war in Iran is making the best argument possible for renewable energy

Somebody, please ask all these Trump-fluffing British politicians exactly what their policy will be regarding the Iranian refugee crisis they are so desperate to create.

Tony Blair rebukes Keir Starmer for not backing Trump on Iran Tony Blair has rebuked Keir Starmer for his lack of support for Donald Trump's war on Iran , telling the Prime Minister: 'We should have backed America from the very beginning'.

Blair is wrong. Starmer is right.

Weโ€™re not turning out for Trump. The manโ€™s an arsehole.

Not talking about super rich. The rest - teachers, nurses, doctors, office accountants - yes have untaxed wealth, yes have gone there to earn a quick buck, DO have to return after a few yrs. They can't stay. So, their money will be spent here, eventually.
All up in the air now anyway, literally.

Yes, I see that. But spending their cash here helps too.

It's a fascinating case study of inequality within wealth. Most Brits there are wealthy, some are rich, some super/mega rich etc.
As I hope my previous skeet suggests, I'm sad for those who have gone to work hard, play hard, and eventually bring home funds for their future. They're losing it all.

I have friends and former colleagues based in Dubai. Most work there... some have bought property there. The longer this Trump stupidity goes on, the more these people and thousands of others are going to lose much of what they went there for. I take no pleasure in that.

Iran Crisis: They Wanted Sovereignty. Just Not Like This If anyone has ruined the special relationship, it's not Starmer- it's Trump

No legal basis. No clear objective. No exit. And much of Britainโ€™s political class spent the week calling Starmer a coward for noticing.

Latest substack from me.

This is a war crime, and Hegseth and his chums (including his leader) will be brought to justice by the ICC eventually. He is young enough for the processes to catch up with him.

CNN reporting that the strikes on Iran tonight are joint US and Israeli strikes.

Which means Donald Trump should be impeached for a third time.

What he has done tonight is illegal under the US constitution and the UN charter.

What we have seen in Gorton and Denton is what we saw in Caerphilly in October.

A lot of people really donโ€™t want the hateful politics of Reform and will work hard and smart to try and keep them out.

Labour must now listen to this and stop the grim attempts to mimic Farage.
