Now a bill to modernize the definition of motor fuel to include hydrogen under the regulations that we use to ensure quality of motor fuel -- the weights and measures program. #waleg

Aaaand after about 40 mintues of truly elite milling about we're running bills again. We just did a bill to get the ball rolling on e-motorcycle regulation. Now we're doing a bill on smaller elevators, SB 5156, which I know many of my housing followers are into. #waleg

We're at ease awaiting the call of the Speaker, which basically means they're getting prepped for the next round of bill action. This can take an indefinite number of minutes. #waleg

I have an 8 AM hearing in the Transportation committee and the hours I'm going to sleep are rapidly eroding... #waleg

Speaker Pro Tem Shavers is in what I think of as "Warp Mode" where he speaks extremely quickly and resembles an extremely nerdy auctioneer. When you're trying to keep the clock moving, every second shaved can be beneficial (see what I did there?) #waleg

Night Floor continues! We've been in the caucus room talking about bills that may run tonight or in the future and their amendments. No idea when we'll be going to bed. #waleg

I’ve already decided if I’m ever in the minority I’m just going to develop a very niche interest and relate everything to it, like making Washington a constitutional parakeet sanctuary or something. I’ll have themed outfits with matching office decor.

So spicy! But also remember lots of people just don’t vote on “division” votes when Republicans call for a counted vote on an amendment. The purpose of division is usually to get folks on the record so you can try to write mean stuff about them, but you’re not required to vote.

So instead, I just talk to you all. And apparently they read up on it!

I mean, listen. Usually the more you talk, the more they talk. When you're in the minority, this kind of stuff is your only real power. If I was in the minority I would probably be giving some wild speeches too. As it stands, we've got the votes, I don't need to belabor the argument.

Whew well that was a weird one. Anyway that bill is done. We've got a couple more coming up. #waleg

Look I'm not saying ST is perfect by any means, but the rhetoric is a bit much. #waleg

Same Republican speaker also says Sound Transit has an unelected board. Sound Transit is a board made up of...elected officials? #waleg

"So Sound Transit, who are we trusting with all of this? They're responsible for years long delays, construction errors...service disruptions, copper wire theft" Unclear the copper wire theft is their fault? Also like, should someone tell this speaker about highway projects? #waleg

"No one is above the law. We've heard a lot about 'No Kings' recently in the media" says Republican speaker. The irony is thick out here. #waleg

Republican is warning us about the threat of Sound Transit "taking" your house (i.e. paying you for land acquisition). It's hard to imagine them going so crazy about a highway project, doing exactly the same thing. #waleg

Apparently I missed the assertion that Sound Transit’s regulations would be written “in the blood of our children” so everything is real normal out here. #waleg

In other news, water is wet and the sky is occasionally blue. #waleg

Lot of "we don't like Sound Transit" talk from the minority party. And also Republicans don't like the GMA. #waleg

Next up is SB 6309, which allows Regional Transit Authorities to vary their development regulations to accommodate mass transit stations. Republicans are trying to move an amendment that would require setbacks. #waleg

Gavel down. We're starting with SB 5998 a bill that allows the Department of Health to create an accreditation system for opioid treatment facilities, paid for by the collection of a fee. #waleg

Ok Republicans are talking a lot more about this bill than this bill's actual impact requires. I'd be fine to move on at any time. #waleg

I'm still going to vote for the underlying bill, but I think Rep McClintock's amendment requiring school districts to have cell phone control policies makes a lot of sense. Something to work on next year? #waleg
