I see, that makes a lot of sense. Kind of bummed getting confirmation now since I have to figure nothing in the actual game's story is going to come close to how good the writing for those segments are, but I do look forward to them every time they come up.

Every time a dream comes up I get totally lost in it and think to myself that it's the story I wish I were playing instead and then as soon as it ends I'm like oh yeah back to the actual game now. I'll stick with it but man I really wish the game's tone matched the dreams.

Finally giving Lost Odyssey an honest try after giving up shortly after launch because it was unbearable playing it on a CRT and I'm kind of astounded at the quality of writing for the dreams sections compared to how corny the main story seems to be so far. I have to figure it's separate authors lol
