We have a tough road ahead. It's never been more important to guide students to develop critical thinking skills, and yet the system being built around us is designed to crush those abilities. <sigh>

While unsurprising, the study gives us levels of measurement - Using LLMs to write essays decreases the learning value in all ways. Much as if you used machines to life the weights at a gym, it defeats much of the training and strengthening purpose, leading to weaker learning and development.

Precisely! I'm in my last year as a Secondary Education (History) student and I wonder what some of my peers are going to say when they're standing in front of their future students... "Um, hold onto that question while I check AI."

I see posts of professors fed up with students using AI.

Imagine being a student who watches peers constantly use AI in an English program.

I’ve no idea if my 3.96 GPA is because I’ve produced exceptional work or if I’m actually horrible but they’re like, “HUMAN WORK: A!” 😭😅
