There's a lot of scary shit happening in the US right now, and we're much closer to the beginning of it than the end.
The good news is that there's a mass movement of people getting organized to figure out what needs to be done and how to do it to end the fascism problem permanently. Get involved ✊
RIP Michael Parenti, age 92, a US-based communist and educator.

Working in a spirit of proletarian internationalism, labor unions can bring much more to the fight against capital than just needed improvements in pay and working conditions.
Unionized workers, think about how your industry & workplace supports oppression & how your union's activity can combat it.

I am jumping in excitement! Thank you!!!
Unfortunately, I don’t remember what program it was on :( I loved the song though, and I haven’t been able to find it on any platform. If y’all are able to find something, that’d be amazing! 🙏🏻
@kutzfm.org Skin on Skin - The Strange Party, such an awesome song!! Do you know where I could find it?? Great show this morning!
Sorry. I got messed up and focused on the vacancy. Vacancy or not, the rest still stands. Who owns the housing? What’s it being used for? Housing does not necessarily = property (from the Marxist lens). I still have a lot to learn tho, and I don’t think this will go much further, so I’ll leave it.
Vacancy says nothing about ownership, or who owns the houses, and whether or not they are being used as a means to profit, and who is profiting. For the vacant houses though— I wish they were put in use. For the people who don’t control their living sitch—I wish nothing but to build tenant power.
Possessions are also different and in no way property. But I think this is just becoming a debate about definitions, which I think is important, but idk if this is a good space for that, so I’ll stop replying now.
Property, in the Marxist lens, is not housing (unless it is used to create capital). There is also a difference between personal and private property. Neither forms refer to mere ownership, but the social relationship included that is used to create capital—profit.
Apologies. The def. I am working with comes from Marx and Lenin. In a socialist context, that is only a part of the def. Here in the US, the def. you provided is probably used more. Though, I think that def. proves to be more divisive than anything, and is not reflective of the full socialist POV.
That said, the “peasantry,” the most poor, vulnerable, and exploited, need to be at the center/guiding light of any successful socialist movement. You should be able to find many texts on Marxist.org (which you linked) that can further expand upon why this is and what is to be gained. Good day.
Corps. are also included in the overall homeownership in the US—skewing the % considerably. According to PEW Trust, 25% of single-family homes are owned by investment companies. You have no where near painted an accurate picture of the housing issue and tenants rights crisis this country faces.
I put “own” in quotations, because as said above, large portions of this country are cost burdened—ownership or not—and if they fail to pay their mortgage, the bank/lender can take it all away.
Some of these people may “own” their homes, but unless they are renting it out or speculating on the housing market, housing is NOT acting as a means to gain capital.
Housing =/= means. To keep it simple: MANY people, especially those in CA (41.6%) are cost burdened—meaning they spend more than 30% of their income on housing. In LA alone, 600,000 people spend more than 90% of their income on housing. And then 25% of people in the US spend more than half.
Excluding professionals who genuinely want to contribute their knowledge to the advancement of the proletariat is not helpful.
Idk if you know the real definition of the working class. Even professionals are members of the working class. The working class is comprised of both blue and white collar. Together they are the proletariat— the exploited social class that does not own the means of production.
The ending felt like spaghetti
