im some ways the novel feels like its subverting and working against all the tropes the movie plays straight

also having now read the book, the movie annihilation is Nothing in comparison

working my way through the southern reach series and im struck by how authority frames itself as a sequel to annihilation but is actually a weird fanfic/paratext around annihilation

been thinking about this game since kieron showed me, i think this game is (perhaps unintentionally?) a scathing and compelling deconstruction of the western genre / the way people trying to tell western stories treat indigenous genocide

Just like I like engaging w/ games I don't like to better develop my ability to talk about games, I also enjoy listening to game devs I respect but don't agree with talk about games. But holy shit, sometimes you just hear a take and it's like "Oh you just...refused to engage with this game. Huh."

i feel like the moment one starts questioning someone's gender or sexuality is the moment when ya jumps the shark, like idk. if nothing else its a sign one needs to interact with more annoying queer people in order to comprehend they exist

advice to new ttrpg creators: live most of your life outside of ttrpgs. if you catch yourself talking shit about another indie creator on some discord, y'know, questioning if they're really queer or something, stop and go outside.
