this is so chilling. i know there is so much going on in regards to trans kids, none of it good, but this escalation sent a chill up my spine. it's so cruel

if i am being unreasonably blunt, most trans literature that got described as "trans literature" could have more productively been a slightly bitchy tutor gig at a shibari bondage workshop & had done with it. ofc that's just what i think. but perhaps the same is true of all women and femmes........

outsider literature around the queer scene tends to be less directly didactic and more generally fabulistic. the books people talk about are essentially fabulist, presenting moral lessons indifferently, not at all, or entirely through little passion plays

so one of the characteristic pieces of diction marking literature as part of the 2010s "trans lit" scene is the didactic mode: characters are more or less constantly being taught or learning things. the farther you get from college, the weirder this gets as a vibe

What I find fascinating when you examine DnD vs LotR: magic items in DnD feel mundane, even some amazing ones, beside maybe the artifacts. LotR mundane items like rings and crystal balls are filled with mysterious myths and lore that still strike the imagination when put on charts somehow.
