It’s a really good time
His Secret Illuminations by Scarlett Gale! A romantasy (I guess) about a meek, nerdy monk who falls for an enormous and badass warrior woman
I don’t check bluesky that often so I’m feeling really blessed that I popped in the same day that someone respectfully asked Courtney Milan if she was a lawyer
This book is an extremely good time and you should read it
Enjoy!! ❤️
Basically that box is the erotica box and checking it will get a book treated like erotica, even if it isn’t.
Also, if they want to start censoring books for having sex scenes, I’m gonna make them work for it at least a little bit.
But everything else - basically everything with an HEA ending - I didn’t check the box, because ime checking the box gets a book blocked from all library platforms and put in the “adult” section of others (like kobo), and that’s just not where small town romcoms should be.
I went to check my D2D and realized I lied and do have some stuff that I checked the box on. Basically anything that’s irrefutably erotica (under 10k words, like 80% explicit, not necessarily an HEA) I checked it, I think because there’s not really an argument that it’s romance?
tbh I’m of the opinion that people who write erotic content shouldn’t check it anywhere, but that’s probably a whole other discussion
And checking that box on Amazon actually does the same thing - they put the book into erotica categories, they just do it without asking you.
Ah. Whenever I’ve checked that box in the past (never again!) it’s always created a huge headache with them blocking various distribution channels and whatnot - does that not happen any more?
Hi! This has happened to me in the past and it was relatively easy (if annoying) to get it fixed, if you’re looking for advice?
(Tip number one is that usually those “adult content” checkboxes really mean “visual adult content,” but that guideline is very hard to find)
i keep seeing authors who are all-in on KU complaining that boycotting amazon means it will mostly hurt small creators
and i'm like. idk. obviously aligning onesself exclusively with Amazon puts one in a position to defend Amazon's dominance, and that's not ACTUALLY good for small creators.
The lawyer with the billboards?!
This week for my romance novel newsletter, Forced Proximity, I recommend three books about childhood rivals turned adult lovers by Joanna Bourne, Kate Bateman, and @roxienoir.bsky.social!

I just finished another (the ABC murders) that has maybe already taken the title? Dumb setup, boring story, and THEN at the end Poirot tells a murder victim’s sister that it’s fine to date the victim’s boyfriend now because the dead girl was a floozy anyway

You’d think I’d have figured that out by now and wouldn’t be surprised, but here we are!
…also what’s the QAnon-ish book?!
I remember thinking after roe v wade got overturned that accidental pregnancy romance would become way less popular and I don’t think that’s happened

President Trump's DOE has made themselves clear: they will support book banners in their efforts to strip our institutions of learning of the books that define them.
So let us be perfectly clear: we're going to do whatever we can to try and stop them.
It’s on a level with the Sherlock Holmes story where he “deduces” that a snake was the murderer
I’m still a dabbler in audio, but Aggie’s books usually have great narrators, and if you’ve read a bunch before it’s pretty easy to follow the plot despite zoning out sometimes, even if you don’t remember exactly what happens in the end
It’s called The Big Four and it’s a wild ride
Lately I’ve been bingeing a lot of Hercule Poirot books via audio, and: I think I’ve found the dumbest one
Thank you! We’ve got a car but are three people and a cat in about 1100 square feet; I do not have room for extra paper towels let ALONE bulk frozen foods.
When the spicy scenes give 😈🥵, but the romance and banter gives 🥰🤭. I love unexpected 5/5🌶️ spice in an otherwise adorable book with hilarious and lovable characters. #TheThreeNightStand by #RoxieNoir is the perfect combo for this. Love this one!
