Oh my god Absolum is excellent, what a gem of a game to just suddenly appear with no warning

Olive & Rye is another good brunch spot, next door is Olive & Thai run by the same people and extremely tasty.
Mommy Thai on Boar Lane is also v.good, or Sqew a few doors down for solid shawarma
Empire Cafe is outstanding but might require booking, worth a shot though!

Laynes for great coffee and brunch, Kapow or Raw for more excellent coffee, White Cloth Hall is a great food hall (but a little spenny), Kirkgate Market has very good food at the back and a bit more reasonably priced.
OK Comics is a wonderful shop, Travelling Man is great for comics and boardgames

Finished Silksong Act 2 last night. Wasn’t sure how to get through to Act 3, so looked it up, and woof - dunno if I’ll bother or not. I’ve enjoyed my 30 hours with it but it feels like it might be time to move on to something else for a while.

Speaking of which, Absolum looks like extremely my jam

This is a shame. I tended to buy your books on-sight for subjects I was interested in - the Metal Slug book is one of my faves and I'm getting the KOF one as a gift soon. But I don't think I can do that again without a lot of research into who you choose to publish. That trust is forever broken.

Got to be halfway-ish through Act 2 now? I keep wondering if I’ll hit a difficulty wall I can’t be fucked getting past but so far so good…

I was out-out for a friends birthday this weekend and between this and the very, very loud bar, it was hellish and I had to ask people to repeat themselves every other sentence it felt like

LRP: me so bad. I regularly have to ask people to repeat themselves because it takes me more time than usual to ‘compute’ what they’ve said, and by the time they’ve finished repeating it my brain has caught up and I finally understand what was originally said, it’s weird and I’ve had it all my life

Ah I’m glad Silksong has just… worked out and been an overall positive experience

Feels like many ‘event’ releases these days get overshadowed by some fuckup, or the game not being as good as people hoped, or some other bullshit, but Silksong has come out and everyone’s just having a good time

Where Fighting Vipers was an attempt to take VF in a faster, more frantic direction, it felt like DOA was trying the same but towards a different set of coordinates. I’ll always maintain it was underappreciated and unfairly maligned back then, not helped by the silly bouncing breasts of course

The original Dead or Alive was really special to me at the time and I think this article highlights why - I love counters (surprising no one, as a VF Aoi sicko) and it really felt like this was the first fighting game to put a particular heavy focus on them.
