I think many view us as a goal though, of someone unflappable and who they could be in the future. They don't like the idea of still facing the pains they are currently experiencing - and so when we have hardships it destroys the fantastic illusion.

Such a different boat than me - I have more friends in my life than ever before - but that is mostly due to making a really good friend in the middle of two huge social networks. Without her very much ostracizing the vocal bigots from the networks - I wouldn't have had the opportunities to connect.

While I have a better relationship with my ex now - she used to say this all the time "you get all the support, I get nothing".

Interestingly we had a high conflict divorce - which she drove - and I had no support while even my own family and all "friends" gave to her.

Definitely! I'm neurodivergent Af - but hyperfixation helped me little bit because Saxon triggered my puzzle curiosity. But that it was basically just problem sets, I still didn't understand the core math behind it - only how the concepts were applied at exactly the level of the problem sets.

Similar story here - though I was able to figure out a lot from the texts enough to do well enough on the SAT (think I got a 700 on the math portion). But when I took my first linear algebra class (CS major) in college - I was blown away at how much more enjoyable math became with an actual teacher!

It is interesting that dating guys without being myself held no attraction. It was a me thing, not them. I just wasn't myself yet. So tricky to de-tangle, just like being trans was.

I get it in one context, I could never go back to who I was before transition - that’s a silly concept trans or cis, age alone changes us irrevocably

If I detransition, I would never be an aged version of what I was before. Though I could still transition backwards!

The issue is that some see the book as a Bible of sorts for trans women. One chapter nailed my transition path, but the rest of the book was alien. It was great having trans literature, but omg I could not relate

Reporters talking with everyone who has ever met the shooter asking if the shooter knew any trans people. Healthy society we have here for sure.

Just as trans women framing hrt through the lens of testosterone being “poison” minimizes the experience of trans men, so does using stats to say we basically never detransition instead of taking the more liberating “so what?”
