Reading about pre-revolutionary Russia and it really does give a warning about putting a fucking idiot in charge of everything. Couldn't happen again.

‘My ideas are a little revolutionary’: ecologist Suzanne Simard on intelligent forests, the climate and her critics Her research popularised the idea of the wood wide web, but the scientific backlash was brutal. I saw birds, but what?
Need waterproof ink too!

Stunning for inland, this being NE Switzerland. I can also test my stone paper notebook (waterproof paper!) and my Zento roller.
Still for now I have a double espresso and a LaugerGipfeli.

I must be crazy, just over bronchitis and I am taking my monthly bird walk out in the rain. Let’s see if anyone turns up. But after a week of sunshine we could have migrants! A long time ago now in similar conditions I saw dozens of chiffchaffs, 10 per 100metres.

Dancing cranes OS map showing district of Cranbrook in Ilford, London.

Thought I’d do a mini series on the crane for a bit, after yesterday’s offering. Bird place-name of the day 136 is CRANBROOK, not the one in Kent where my book #thecuckooslea begins, but in London. Hard to believe now! OE cran + burna. ‘Cranes’ stream’. #PlaceNames #birdsandplace #naturewriting

Declaring that no quarter will be given unequivocally violates international humanitarian law. Indeed, ordering that no quarter will be given, threatening an adversary therewith or conducting hostilities on this basis is prohibited and constitutes a war crime.

Alternatively Tom’s Studio makes an Architect grind nib that is a Bock 250 #6 which should fit in lots of pen bodies.

I have to agree the Jetstream Lite is the only writing experience that is close to a fountain pen feel. I like both and carry a JsL multipen to use with my diary. I use a fountain pen for my other writing. I like UNI Zento as well, so black.

Sorry I wasn't meaning to pressure you, just adding the info for anyone else who finds the thread and is interested. Yes, the current situation, is bad, yes but what angers me most is that it is completely unnecessary. <sigh>

a chart showing high new EV sales (close to 100% for 2025) but slow change in usage, registration and emissions drops

Norway is at ~100% EVs for new sales, but 7 out of every 10km driven in 2024 was reliant on fossil fuels. Cars stick around for decades - so change is slow.

Protecting ppl from fossil fuel crises means EVs, yes, but *fast deep cuts* means huge $$ in public and active transport. Speed matters!

Poem:
So, Here We Are

Consent is
blue cornflowers
dancing to summer’s beat,

it’s themes and variations
where minor movements
end in major chords,

it’s a round number,
a balance of equals,

not a powerful man
and a helpless child,

nor laundered money
and hidden books.

Consent is given
not taken;

it doesn’t require deflection,
it doesn’t need a war,

it’s a meadow waking in spring
not a bombsite of winter’s despair.

Good morning! Here's my poem for #PoemsAbout #Consent
Thank you, as always to @alanparrywriter.co.uk and @thebrokenspine.co.uk!

For reference:
My Namisu N2 Al & Steel just arrived and it is a pocket pen and takes Bock #6 nibs. All the three Tom’s Studio I have fit.
It takes short cartridges so using with a Titanium flex doesn’t make much sense. Perhaps a long cart would fit. Lovely looking pen.

Good morning and many thanks @thebrokenspine.co.uk @alanparrywriter.co.uk for this week's #PoemsAbout prompt #Consent. I've decided to experiment with a first attempt at a tanka poem for my response: hope the form works. Looking forward to reading to other responses from the #PoetryCommunity
