例えば、ヒカル（怪物）よりも光（生前）の方が圧倒的にマイクロアグレッションをするキャラとして一話から描いていたりします。

生前の光を好きになってもらえるのは嬉しいのですが、描写がほぼ無いので「理想的・完璧な存在」としてイメージが一人歩きしていくのはちょっと複雑です。色々なメディアミックスで脚本などをチェックしていても少し感じる部分です。
でも、これって現実で亡くなった人にもよく起こることなので面白いですね。どんなに最悪な部分がある人でも亡くなってしまえば「良い人だった」と思いたくなるものです。
それとも、「ここから先の人生でこの人との関わりは絶対に無い」となった時にその人の欠点を探す必要がないだけかもしれませんね。

アニメ最終話のヒカルのセリフ「おれはよしきが大好きや」ではその後「恋愛でも友情でもない」と続きます。
他者との深い結びつきが全て「恋愛or友情」のどちらかに振り分けられる必要は無いと思っているので、怪物のヒカルの気持ちに関しては一貫してそのように描いています。

一方で、様々なキャラクターの間で明確に恋愛である部分や友情である部分もしっかり決めて描いています。

そして、田中に関しては作中の理性的な部分を担う役割を意識しています。
ヒカルとよしきは常にじめっとしており、暮林などは引っ張られてしまうのですが、田中は二人に特に感情移入はせず淡々としています。
