I no longer feel shame for the disgust I feel with this country. I also no longer hide it. America is and will be always what it was. A white supremacist, fascist nation that will protect the wealthy at the expense of its people.

So, anyway, check out Turn A Gundam, it's pretty good.

I was in the army. I went to Iraq 3 times. OIF 3, 5 and 6. I lost friends. I no longer hold those who pulled the trigger, who planted the bomb to blame for their deaths. I blame the government that sent us to die for their wealth. We were sent us to invade and crush the native population.

Any celebration of the militia member by the native population is seen as a blasphemy by the invading army, and crushed. It is viewed as an affront and propagandized. They died protecting their home.

The invaders are treated like heroes and martyrs by their people, and their death blamed on the people defending themselves. The invader is venerated. The militia member dies defending their home, and they are treated as worse than a traitor by the invading nation.

Watching Turn A Gundam, and 1) it's really fucking good but 2) it has me thinking about the disproportionate impact invasions have on the native population. Soldiers go and die, but that is their choice to serve. The native people must form militias and defend themselves, they have no choice.
