Energy Crashes: Feeling sluggish, tired, or irritable after a sugar high, followed by an energy crash, is a common sign of sugar addiction.
Does any of this sound familiar?
I had them all
Mood Swings: Experiencing frequent mood swings, irritability, or feelings of anxiety when not consuming sugar can suggest dependence on it for emotional regulation.

I am!
Here are 3 signs that you're addicted to sugar:
I was in my mid 20s!
Now, in my mid 40s, and living a sugar free life, I have a MILLION times more energy than I did in my youth
Crazy, right?

Feeling tired/lack energy?
Back when I used to eat a 'normal' diet the main issue I had was lack of energy
20 years ago, just before I moved into my first house I spent the day cleaning it and organising as much as I could
But after lunch I sat down 'for a moment' then woke up 3 hours later
TIP: Avoid and eliminate all sweet tasting drinks including juice, squash and soda even if it's sweetened with artificial sweetener. That also includes 'healthy' smoothies and especially bubble teas π₯€

If you eat more sugar than you know you should then your body may well be giving you some subtle warning signs.
Here are 3 signs that I had, and ignored, for many years. Do you have any of them?

Letβs say you reduce your intake by just one can a day
That can probably has at least 6 spoons of sugar in it
Over one year thatβs 2190 spoons of sugar
2190!!

Such simple signs that I thought were perfectly normal but really aren't.
As soon as I mastered living a low sugar life these signs all disappeared, and despite being 10 years older I rarely take a daytime nap, I simply don't need it.
Do any of these red flags affect you?
3. You feel tired/sluggish after a meal or need a mid morning/mid afternoon pick me up. I can't actually remember a time between the ages of 20 and 35 when I wasn't tired mid afternoon, and if I wasn't at work or out and about I often had a nap which could last up to 3 hours.
04.02.2025 13:22 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 02. You crave something sweet after a meal. I actually NEVER ate a meal without eating something sweet afterwards. It was unheard of!
04.02.2025 13:22 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 01. You keep going back for more sweet food, despite having had some already. I did this all the time! One biscuit was never enough, one slice of cake was just the start and I always bought the extra large, two finger Twix!

I Want To Give Up Sugar - What Can I Eat?
Want to give up sugar but donβt know how or where to start? Not sure what to eat at a restaurant? Hereβs how I do it

5: Have you booked your workouts for the week ahead?
6: Can you use a journal to chart your feelings and thoughts at the start and end of the day.
Hopefully some of these prompts will help get you back on track and feel as though you're leading from the front
3: How are you feeling today, did you get a good night's sleep? Do you need to get to bed a bit earlier tonight?
4: Is your home and workspace clean and tidy? It really helps prevent overwhelm and a chaotic mind when your space is uncluttered.
1: Drink 2/3 litres of water - take your water bottle with you
2: Have you planned and prepped your food for the day - three healthy meals, good quality protein with plenty of veggies. What are you having for breakfast this week - are you a breakfast person?
GET BACK ON TRACK π§΅
After a few chats last week, some people told me they need to get back on track after the new year
It does take time to get back to a normal routine, so if you're feeling a bit lost here's a checklist to help you along the way
I really do worry for the future of our health
29.01.2025 13:55 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I've just seen a post in a facebook group asking whether it's bad parenting to give your child ice cream for breakfast
Some of the replies are an eye opener but especially those confident parents that believe they give their child a healthy breakfast - cereal followed by toast
If you crave sugar after your evening meal try brushing your teeth or chewing some gum
The minty taste might help you get through the craving meaning you can head to bed without your body needing to digest any extra sugar
You're likely to sleep better and could also break a long standing habit
Try this if you're craving sugar
28.01.2025 18:25 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It's time to choose a healthier breakfast and if you're tight for time in the morning then you can prep it from the night before
Plain Greek yogurt with pear, banana, walnuts, seeds & topped with VERY dark chocolate for an extra boost of taste and magnesium
Save & try
