As ICE stormed cannabis farms in Ventura County, California, in July, community members rushed to protest. Among them was Jonathan Caravello, a 37-year-old philosophy lecturer at California State University. Today, he faces a federal felony charge that could send him to prison for up to 20 years.

But any means is valid in the sensationalist campaign of criminalization & stigmatization of dissent.
A vulgar & cynical attack on free expression, considering the president of Argentina is constantly posting violent fantasies of harm & death against his perceived political enemies on social media.
Police images from the raid display a collection of fanzines, buttons, & other design elements-- together with weapons & ammunition. The prominent images of the weapons obscure what is barely a buried footnote in the press articles: they are replicas.
The journalist sets the sights, the cops pull the trigger.
A few days ago the "Ministry of National Security" raided the home of an antifascist graphic designer. He remains in detention & is accused of "public threats & intimidation" for a design of his reading "death to the enemies of the people."
Things are not going well down here.
Last week, towards the end of the demonstration, a few people hurled Molotovs at the police line. They were quickly identified, their faces blasted across newspapers and TV screens, & promptly arrested.
The bureaucratic mainstream union couldn't be bothered to do more than call for a 24 hour general strike-- without even calling for an accompanying mobilization. Today, as well as on the day of the debate in the house, the union, grassroots, & left-wing party mobilization was discreet at best.
The "libertarian" labor reform is about to become law in Argentina, likely in the next few hours. It erases almost 100 years of concessions gained through struggle-- 12 hour workday, payments can be made in food, grave limitations on strikes & collective bargaining.
This never gets old...

Our top story, from @stevanzetti.bsky.social: Wearing black, owning zines, using the encrypted messaging app Signal. The broader constitutional rights of left-wing activists may hang in the balance as the government builds its "antifa conspiracy."
Avec le temps, quand le FN prendra le pouvoir, on se dira que la Jeune Garde ont été les premiers résistants.
