The handful of trains serving SW Ontario are often full or crowded, better service is needed immediately. The slow pace of action by both levels of government is costing the region jobs and opportunities.

An otherwise good YouTube channel about drones that I sometimes watch made a video campaigning to stop Canada’s high-speed rail project.
One particularly frustrating point is when he said it would be "horrific" to have fast trains every 30 minutes near people’s cottages.
The discussion about Calgary and Edmonton is just garbage. Do we honestly expect every project to benefit every part of the country equally? What’s the benefit to Ontario for pipelines in Western Canada? What is the benefit of upgrading the Port of Churchill?
Another day another anti-HSR article. But the headline is slightly misleading: Brockville wants the line to stop there.
Never mind the difference to covering insane highway projects like tunneling the 401.
This is so obvious right now. So many outlets - CBC and the Star most recently - just give uncritical coverage to these groups. No coverage of the benefits. No opinion polling.
I’d take having the Blue Water to Chicago connect in Sarnia too!
I looked up the location of Gibbs Honey, the business profiled in the complaint against the high speed line.
It's almost right next to Highway 417, a four lane divided freeway.

So anyone out there writing about HSR opposition, can we get some balanced viewpoints or some survey data please?
Compare to the discussion around the Brantford Bypass. There is opposition to this infrastructure, very often referred to explicitly as environmental opposition. But we also had polling that showed support overall for the project. Why aren’t we seeing polling on HSR?
One great step would be to have some polling on this matter. What is the general opinion on the line between Ottawa and Montreal - the first section to be constructed?
So many stories all of the sudden on opposition to high speed rail in Ontario and Quebec. But why?

A pretty incredible example of an unelected committee of adjustment member just flat out saying they would ignore the city's by-laws in order to reject housing. It's frustrating to fight these little personnel battles everywhere but I guess that's life.

RIP frozen concentrated orange juice.
Find someone who loves you as much as Doug Ford loves telling cities how to do their jobs.

Can’t trust anything this government says on the environment file.
Keep walking back those environmentally sound policies, dude. Canada will never be a leader and never phase out gas cars if Liberal governments keep moving the goal posts further away.
We’ll all burn waiting for Liberals to do anything real for the environment.
Normal thing for a major urban American newspaper to have to post.
London, Ontario has “no working public transport options”?!
Urbanist YouTube has given some Europeans a… skewed perspective of North America.
London is never getting HSR so a dedicated passenger line is definitely a good consolation prize. Routing through KW makes the most sense, right?

Small win for Toronto: having a reasonable mayor.
Hew and draw. 🙄
Wab using tofu-eater as an insult is dumb. He should be embarrassed of such bad trash talking.

Hewers of wood, etc.
This dude sure loves taking things out of the ground and calling it nation building.

and the pessimistic take
The optimistic @propagandhi.com tale today
This country got the most stereotypical Conservative PM with this guy. Climate policy is shit. Tax cuts for the rich. And more and more the one thing that he got everyone all hyped on - trade - is the thing where he does the worst.
Consumer carbon pricing. High speed rail. Investment in public transit. No new pipelines. Legalize new bike lanes. End EV taxes. Literally do anything dude.
