I started my transition by DIYing, it was fine and safe thanks to the incredible work of the trans community. The main reason I stopped was that I was anxious that a malicious social services report and the presence of grey market hormones could be used to take my daughter away from me.
Many transition via DIY resources. I've never seen an endocrinologist or a psych because I don't want to go through a combative and adversarial diagnostic process to access what I need.
