Hi! Thatβs me but my campaign bluesky is @michaelafortn.bsky.social!!
Do yβall think that in 1930s Germany, the friends and families of those speaking out were like: βBut why do you have to be so political?β
How the heck do we learn from this for the future?
The health of our economy relies on people buying a whole bunch of stuff they don't need. Obviously the critique of this is centuries old, but it's something we really have to wrestle with. Trump got his followers to stop buying cheap crap from Temu AND for many of them to see this as a good thing.
And this idea that we have to endure a little bit of present pain and give up some things now for a better future - that's what the sustainability movement has been trying to get people to embrace for years. Somehow Orange Man got his followers to do it in less than three months.
I own a small, sustainable business that's being harmed by the tariffs - but I'm also glad to see folks rethinking their Shein and Temu orders.
THIS IS NOT NORMAL. βThe FBI is moving to criminalize groups like Habitat for Humanity for receiving grants from the Environmental Protection agency under the Biden administration.β newrepublic.com/post/192660/... @thenewrepublic.bsky.social
Itβs totally normal for the U.S. president to *checks notes* sell cars on the White House lawn?
We canβt just be freaking out about everything that is being broken. We have to start planning for the society we want to create when the time comes to rebuild.
