Santa Clara U. is launching a new Center for Teaching Excellence this fall, and they're looking to hire a founding director for the new center. If you're interested in directing a teaching center on the west coast, please take a look at the position description. wd1.myworkdaysite.com/recruiting/s...

I love serious eats. they also have a "keep the ipad on" function so your device doesn't go to sleep all the time and you have cooking schmutz on your screen.

(The NY Times cooking site was a game changer for me. They have several "easy" search functions (dishes, time, # of ingredients, etc.)

I’m honestly so proud of myself.

It’s hard to ask for help but I’ve done it again and again over the last year.

I’ve learned that so many folks are so willing to share their knowledge and expertise and I’m just so grateful 😭😭😭

My quote of the day

We must always take sides. Neutrality helps the oppressor, never the victim. Silence encourages the tormentor, never the tormented. The opposite of love is not hate, it’s indifference.

I think I’m going to have to learn needlepoint to put this one on the wall.

Title slide for Jessamyn's keynote "Real Talk about Teaching: Normalizing Educators' Setbacks, Struggles, and Snafus." Pictured: a plate of very burned toast.

Heading to Boise for the @boisestate.bsky.social Great Ideas for Teaching & Learning Summit! Looking forward to keynoting about the many, many, oh so many mistakes we make as a normal part of our effective teaching.

Huge. A towering career at the Post. Ruth Marcus was the acting head of the Opinion section in 2022 (and hired me) — this could have been the person leading it now if Bezos had different priorities.

I'd do looseleaf lettuce (like a mesclun mix) - it'll grow well before the treaves leaf out and then will go to seed more slowly once the days get longer and warmer. Then replace with herbs.

Two of my favorite things -- "yes, and" and sticking it to Bezos -- rolled into one!

A poster for the economic blackout on February 28. It is a big red Jack rabbit on an aqua blue back ground. It says economic blackout in hand done black type. There are two black speech bubbles. One says “don’t buy stuff Friday February 28th. The other says we have power. Below it says No Amazon, Walmart, target, gas food, gas. Below that it says OK small business, use cash. Designed by Martha Rich.

I made this the other night while procrastinating, mainly because I thought all the posts about the blackout were boring. It feels like there is momentum bringing people together!
