Anyone else played through Lost Records: Bloom & Rage? I just finished Tape 2. GOTY level for me. Such a beautiful tearjerker of a raging punk tale. Loved the characters, the music, the 90s nostalgia, the bittersweetness of finding your way as a teen and on into adulthood. Highly recommend it.

Some great solarpunk stories within. Ana Sun’s tales are always a delight. The story I have in there was one of my favorites to write and written in what I consider the best POV (2nd person), not to mention a fun story creature (tanuki).

Found a delicious gyoza shop we hadn’t tried before (I used to think the only good gyoza in this so-called gyoza town was the stylish bar right below the station gates). Heard a band performing right beside the entrance to their hotel. Excited to see them again when they return from Kyoto / Osaka.
We chatted over delicious food my partner Aya made, and the cousins bonded wonderfully over video games. We dallied in a game center. We hiked up the stairs to the shrine for fun pics and chatting. We showed them the anime and card shops and their kids got a stack of Pokémon cards in Japanese.
Had such a magical time meeting my sister and her family when they stopped by my town during their visit in Japan and came by my apartment. Was so sad to say goodbye but so thrilled and energized from the visit. It had been so long since we met in person,l that it felt unreal, like a good dream.

What’s your general approach?
I’d say a mix but I tend toward discovery for most my stories. I usually jot down a few author wants and/or publication needs—bare minimum for plot or character—then jump around from there, usually hitting opening scenes, the end scene then fill in the middle and expand whatever’s missing.
