tariffs happening for no reason and theyre making your life worse, secret police kidnapping people for no reason and making your life worse, firing thousands of government employees for no reason and making your life worse, going to war with iran for no reason and making your life worse
Who am I kidding, had to do the set
Well now I gotta move this up my go see list

#31- Bridge on the River Kwai
David Lean, 1957
Its easy to understand why a movie with such grand production & an all time performance from Guinness was an instant classic. The back-n-forth between Nicholson & Saito was the highlight. Needed 20 less mins of jungle romping in the third act

I watched his OG Iron Lung vid after & was SHOCKED that it was only ~35mins of gameplay. He expanded on the lore of the game so much on a budget, very impressed. His followup video after opening weekend echoed my thoughts about inspiring filmmakers without big connections or funding. Very heartfelt
the future is for trans people
#30- Iron Lung
Mark Fischbach, 2026
Never watched a lot of Markiplier before, so no bias going in. Was this amazing? No. Was i entertained? Yes. Do I think this is a good sign & win for alternative indie funding in the future? Also yes. Needed to be 30mins shorter, 2hr+ runtime was not it

I think Sanjuro was still my favorite but this is a close second. Absolutely on my short list for the Criterion sale this summer. I'll be excited to rewatch it on my much better home theater set up 😅
#29- Harakiri
Masaki Kobayashi, 1962
My classic Samurai binge with @snarkysunbro.bsky.social continues & this has become one of my favs. Bounces between past & present, building up to an intimate & emotional end. Probably one of the coolest 1v100 fights, choreography for it was so fluid.

#28- The Dirty Dozen
Robert Aldrich, 1967
A perfect film for the misfit men on a war mission trope. In this case not your usual bunch of "heroes" but instead a bunch of fuck up led by an even bigger asshole played by one of my personal favs, Lee Marvin. Good humor epic final battle scene.

Unprompted by anything specific… worth noting that WIRED’s ASME award nominated package, “How To Win a Fight,” includes a piece on how to advocate for your trans and nonbinary neighbors:

Understanding one of the world's oldest civilizations can't be achieved through a single film or book. But recent works of literature, journalism, music and film by Iranians are a powerful starting point. n.pr/4upn1Px

#27- Cool Hand Luke
Stuart Rosenberg, 1967
Brilliant. Luke carries both the establishment's pressure to conform & the weight of hope from his fellow inmates. Both take & take until there is no more to give. Gritty cinematography & an amazing supporting cast. Newman really is THAT guy 🥚

Gorillaz "The Mountain" 8-minute short film is now online.
Directed by Jamie Hewlett, Max Taylor & Tim McCourt at The Line studio.
An homage to the golden era of 2D animation, produced with a hybrid analogue-digital workflow.

I can't emphasize enough that the idea of a Paramount-WB merger producing 30-40 movies a year is an absurd fiction. First WB will become the "classy" label within Par (which is only about Rescue Rangers, Scream and existing IP). Then it will become the specialty or streaming label. Then it will die.
Trans joy is an intrinsically radical act of love.
This guy gets it.
This is the most incredible footage of blue whales I’ve ever seen
My blood pressure was through the damn roof this entire game!
Matt Boldy you magnificent bastard
Wemby actually did that lol

#26- The Sting
George Roy Hill, 1973
So great watching one of my Dads fav films for the first time with him. Both Redford & Newman are a damn delight together on the screen & then ya throw in a top notch supporting cast. Newman's pretty blue eyes & that train Poker scene was *chef's kiss*
