He may be a great businessman, he's a terrible diplomat. Maybe he thinks he doesn't need to be diplomatic because the US doesnt need the rest of the world, but it doesn't work like that. Maintaining relationships abroad is essential for the entire stability of the West.

In the current political times, Bluesky is really coming into its own. I'm so glad of it right now.

Giving in to aggression doesnt lead to peace, it's just submission.

Back to work today! I was lucky enough to have 25, 26, 27 Dec off, plus the weekend. I've had a good rest but it was tough when the alarm went off earlier!

I've read the Michel Faber one. I haven't read the others but have read other books by those authors that I really enjoyed.

• 'Anyway, don't let me keep you?'
• 'I'll let you get on?'
• 'Right. < slap their own thigh>
• 'Gosh, is that the time?'
• 'Goodness me, it's getting a bit dark now, isn't it?'
• 'What time's your train?'
• 'Well it's been lovely to see you?'
• 'What are you doing for the rest of the day?'
• 'Did you want another cup of tea?' ‹ please say no!>
• 'I should imagine you want to beat the traffic.'
• 'I don't like the thought of you driving in the dark?
• 'What are you having for dinner?'
• 'I can't remember, did you bring a coat?'
• 'Do you want a hand putting things in the car?'

Some things a Brit might say to visitors when they want them to go. From the new book: Britain According to Very British Problems.

For people with mental illness, drugs and alcohol can be a key survival strategy. I’ve learned they shouldn’t have to ‘get clean’ to get treatment This is the moment of truth. John’s story is no longer trapped in the clinical pages of a case file. ‘I’ve lost everything,’ he says. ‘I might as well be dead.’

Diving deep into the nexus of mental health & substance use, my article @ConversationUK advocates for holistic treatment approaches. 🌿 It's time for a paradigm shift—towards integrated care rooted in compassion & understanding.

When I started in forensic mental health one of the things that struck me most was the degree to which heavy substance misuse was a factor in patients' histories
