Highly unlikely. Solar flares mostly effect the upper atmosphere and ionosphere and magnetosphere, well above anywhere you have significant weather, and are too dispersed to really cause any trouble. Not saying it's impossible, but I'd be more worried about the power grid going down.

As you begin budgeting for Black Friday, consider shopping locally as much as possible. Many small retailers (especially hobby shops, game stores, and comics shops) run *barely* in the black until the holidays, at which point they make all the profits that will keep them solvent next year.

If you're in a major city or one with a major art presence maybe try starting a community club? Use a community hall or library to keep costs low to nil, and advertise it as primarily a social and networking gathering, then see if you can rope some of the senior artists into giving short lectures?
