The smog rolls over Manhattan. U.S. National Archives Photo.

Trump and EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin have undone nearly 70 environmental protections, are forcing obsolete and dirty coal plants to stay open at the cost of millions of dollars a day, and have tried to ban clean energy.

When they talk about Making America Great Again, this is what they mean.

More than two thirds of state Sen. Dems oppose CLCPA changes “I believe very strongly that she has been peddled an enormous amount of misinformation,” state Sen. Liz Krueger said of the governor.

Rolling back NY's Climate Law will do nothing to reduce costs, because it isn't the cause of rising costs. The oil and gas status quo created the affordability crisis, and cheap, quickly-deployable renewables, storage, and efficiency will get us out of it. spectrumlocalnews.com/nys/central-...

VICTORY! Remember when President Trump declared himself a king and decreed that congestion pricing was dead?

Today, a federal court ruled that the Trump admin unlawfully attempted to end NYC’s successful Congestion Pricing program. We won!

New York Was a Leader on Climate Issues. Under Hochul, Things Changed.

“We’re in a moment where it’s incredibly important for New York State to lead on energy affordability and climate,” said Liz Moran, a New York policy advocate for Earthjustice, an environmental nonprofit. “Unfortunately over the past year, we’ve seen the governor run toward the opposite direction.”

Hochul Buys Time on Pollution Rules New York is ready to collect data on emissions, but is fighting a court order to cut them.

Hochul started 2025 by shelving cap & invest and promising to issue emissions reporting rules alone.

As the year ends, it’s safe to say she’s stuck to that program. The emissions rules are done but she’s still fighting NY’s climate law, punting a cap & invest style program til maybe 2027? Latest:

A FarmSTAND branded graphic featuring the banner "Win!" and the following text on a white box in front of an image of a produce vendor: "Judge Restores Grants Illegally Canceled by DOGE and USDA as Case Continues" and "A federal judge ordered plaintiff groups’ grants restored. We fight on for all communities who’ve had grants canceled illegally." Green FarmSTAND-branded graphic with the following quote attributed to David Muraskin, Managing Director for Litigation at FarmSTAND: "As a result of this ruling, the plaintiffs in this case will be able to support a habitable climate, fair food system, and healthy nation for all again."

VICTORY! The judge issued an order restoring the plaintiffs' canceled grants! This opens the door to justice for similarly wronged groups doing critical work.

Congrats @earthjustice.org, @iatp.bsky.social, and the rest of our allies and plaintiffs.

Out here fighting for water breaks for farmers and other outdoor and indoor human beings working out in this extreme heat. No federal protections exist on that.
In fact, some states made it illegal for local governments to create their own heat safety rules.

We just won our first victory against this Trump administration! USDA has agreed to restore climate data it had removed, a move we challenged on behalf of farmers who depend on this info. This win proves the law is a powerful tool against the administration’s anti-science, industry-appeasing agenda.

Clean Deliveries Act could lessen warehouse boom-fueled pollution in New York Legislation could limit the pollution from diesel trucks traveling back and forth from warehouses to deliver packages by passing the Clean Deliveries Act.

Half of New York’s warehouses are located in what the state calls “disadvantaged communities,” according to an updated environmental report, and diesel truck rides to and from those facilities have almost quintupled over the past decade

On the first Earth Day in 1970, there was no:

🚫 Environmental Protection Agency
🚫 Clean Water Act
🚫 Endangered Species Act

The following year, Earthjustice was founded by a small group of attorneys who believed that the earth needs a good lawyer.
