I’d really rather they didn’t. I’m hoping for more of a fun Batman movie that goes full comic book. Not as far the other way as 66 obviously but I’d kinda like to see the blue/grey suit if they can pull it off. Go weird with it. Big Bat Family. Have him play the straight man in a JLI movie.

Just finished watching this and it occurred to me that it would be really funny if they introduced Mr. Mxyzptlk into the new movies in a parody of the Thanos post credit scene.

Awesome to have that announced a few days before the new Ultraman starts up as well. Hopefully this becomes the new standard and Super Sentai gets in on it too

No Time to Die really dropped the ball by not ending with “Somehow, James Bond will return”

Think the first couple chapters are free on K Manga if you want to try it out that way. The monetization on that app after that is kind of odd though. Very mobile game coded with earning free premium tickets and buying points for newer chapters.

No problem. I remember the anime being a relatively dry adaptation. Still decent but I preferred the manga. Don’t think it adapted super far in either. I’ve read the first seven volumes and quite enjoyed it. Need to catch up at some point.

There really isn’t a way to do Duke other than “man out of time” without making it terribly dated or changing him completely. I always pictured someone like Dolph Lundgren in the role for that tone. Weirdly I think Johnny in Cobra Kai is the closest comparison for that now.

@deadanchoress.bsky.social You ever read the manga A Sign of Affection? Was listening to you talk about that graphic novel The New Girl(?) on the podcast and it made me think of that a bit. At least in terms of the language barrier elements and messing with the dialogue boxes.

Did not expect to have as much fun as I did rewatching Mission: Impossible II. Just a delightful over the top mess of an idea that is incredibly entertaining. Not to mention the musical contributions of Butt Rock Metallica and Limp Bizkit.

A mix of overdue classics and rewatches. Did not expect how Bond coded Enter the Dragon was going to be. Throne of Blood I probably need to see again to fully appreciate. Other two also hold up very well but the 4K on D+ for Iron Man just looked wrong in so many ways I can not fully explain

For sure. It also results in unintentional comedy like with Morbius. It’s a trade but it’s definitely more bad than good. I’ve intentionally been seeking out non-franchise movies more the last few years and it’s been great

Very much agree but it’s also kind of a weird double edged sword situation. Because the system that results in all the sequel slop is unfortunately the same one that allows for a Toy Story 3. Or Blade Runner 2049 or even Into the Spider-Verse. Movies that “nobody asked for” but are somehow great.

ToQger? Unless there’s an earlier one I’m forgetting. There’s definitely others with trains in them one way or another.
