Clever Creature

I've put in an application for an environmental charity job that I'm really quite keen on. I don't want to jinx it, but ... I'll take any good juju anyone wants to put into the aether.

I just had to decline an interview for a job I was really keen on because of travel requirements. :(

But, at the very least, this is hopefully the first successful application of many more to come soon.

I’ve only know realized I said inspiration twice when I meant the first word to be “illustration.” Is it too late to blame autocorrect?

At this point I just want every company where I’ve submitted an application to admit they aren’t really hiring.

Four months and nearly 100 applications without even being shortlisted when I’ve been working within the same industry for 20 years doesn’t make sense.

I have been applying for a lot of charity jobs along with the usual fare from other job aggregates. The thing is, I'd really like to get one of the charity jobs. I want a job where I feel like I'm making a difference and not just a paycheck.

It is frankly unbelievable how many applications I've put in and how many rejections I've received. The problem isn't that I'm unqualified. I've been doing what I've been doing for over 20 years. The problem is that these businesses want someone who will do the jobs of 10 people.

I don’t know what’s a bigger slap to the face.

Is it that I applied for a job I’m highly qualified for and received a rejection email?

Or is it that I’m seeing the same job listing recommended to me three months later?

I have put in so many job applications that I have to start considering the possibility that no one is actually hiring and every listing is a lie.

Well, I didn't get the job I was really keen on. It's been a bigger gut-punch than expected. I've been doing what I do for far too long to be still struggling as much as I am to find a job in my field.

I have been creating art. I just don’t really post it anywhere because the internet has a bad habit of rampant theft. Especially with the advent of AI. But I have been creating. And, I’m setting myself up to start writing again.
