This was the card that finally broke me and made me lose interest in being a serious collector of Topps sets. Alex Freaking Gordon!

Knowledge that helped at work today.
- Knowing that the Dodgers 1950s road uniforms didn't have numbers on the front but the home uniforms did.
- Being able to identify Tommy LaSorda in his early 20s & Rogers Hornsby in his mid-50s.
It is great having a job where these type of skills can be used.
One my favorite memories of the library. At 19 or 20 I would go to the library to do baseball research. At the desk I always asked for Ted the sports librarian. One day another librarian said “you know you can ask me you don’t always need Ted”. I asked my question her answer was “I will go get Ted.”
In 2026, the Los Angeles #Dodgers starting lineup will make more money than the World Baseball Classic USA Team starting lineup.

Did JRR Tolkien find the name Samwise in a baseball encyclopedia?
Sam Wise played 12 seasons in the major leagues from 1881 to 1893, mostly with the Boston National League team. Read Sam Wise's SABR Bio to learn more about him and notice that Tolkien is not mentioned once. sabr.org/bioproj/pers...
Another Prohibitionist legend.
John Roach played one major league game and he allowed 17 runs on 18 hits. Yet somehow he has six cards in the N172 card set.

Have you heard Ice Cube's Baseball themed rap song?
It references, Babe Ruth, Ken Griffey Jr., Satchel Paige, Jackie Robinson, Steve Howe, and Cy Young.
Parental Advisory for Explicit Content of course because it is Ice Cube and he does swear.

You want to roll up on me? Good luck with that cause I am going to put your face in the dirt.
I will stick to the Rainbow Foods blue and gold sets for Mr. Winfield.
That is what I am talking about out!
which team is which?
The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly.
Who else fits this theme?
Fun facts: Jerry Hairston Sr. Is the only player to have a father, brother and son reach the major leagues.
All five members of the Hairston family to reach the major leagues played in Chicago for either the White Sox or the Cubs.
In Love of the Game’s up coming Spring auction will be the fifth highest ranked complete set of 1962 #Topps cards on the #PSA registry. Most of the cards will be sold individually so set builders can add to their collection. Nothing from the set is lower than an 8! loveofthegameauctions.com
I looked and I got nothing.
How is that Mets payroll looking this year, cause here is the Twins situation.
My co-workers who are Mets and Yankees fans complain about how bad their teams are, and here I am a Twins fan laughing because they don’t know what a bad season is.
Pablo Lopez down for the count. Hit me again Coach!
I wonder if in the early days of photography people looked at hand colored or tinted photos the same way that we currently look at AI manipulated photos.
Here are four interesting Baseball books that can be read on the Internet Archives website with a free account. Go find them at archive.org

Yes, Sue Bird was elected to the Hall of Fame in 2025, and Rebecca Lobo was elected in 2017.

I searched Libby, Hoopla, and CloudLibrary and came up empty. 😕
15 players on the #Dodgers current 40-man roster were drafted by the Dodgers.
16 players on the roster made their Major League debut with the Dodgers, with two more waiting to debut. Foreign league appearances are considered debuts here.
Bold type = left the organization and have returned.
There have been 48 NBA/ABA players from UConn, with the first appearing in 1958. Ray Allen is the lone HOFer.
There have been 50 WNBA players from UConn, with the first appearing in 1997. Including 4 HOFers, Rebecca Lobo, Swin Cash, Sue Bird, and Maya Moore.
Not a card from the 1990s, but for sure an odd ball card.
In March of 1987 you could get a wax box for $13.50 in South Dakota. If you were in Omaha you got an even better deal for $11.
With inflation that $13.50 would be roughly $39.17 today.
