"It’s a very perverse thing we’re doing ...Trump started a war that caused gas prices to rise. We’re relaxing the sanctions on Russia, which is helping Iran to kill our soldiers. If anybody had thought this through ... these consequences could have been anticipated."

Been a while since a 📽 so tonight's was one of the best: Casablanca (1942, dir. Michael Curtiz) - the thrilling, romantic, funny, beautifully shot ensemble tale of cynic-with-a-lover's-heart Rick finding his passion for life again, with a cast at the top of their game.
"Welcome back to the fight."
A very nice interview, with my dear-old pal and occasional collaborator Gerd Gemünden, on the latest wave of Brazilian cinema and its global appeal.

An entire city became a billboard. Epstein files. The client list. Projected across buildings for everyone to see. No one could look away. No one could scroll past. The streets became the screen. This is what happens when the internet goes outside!
The general feeling in NYC since yesterday, when we gained an hour of sunlight and the temps rose above 60 F for the first time in months. This old @newyorker.com cartoon by the great #BobMankoff nails it!

"He was a musician-philosopher whose interests went well beyond jazz. He was seen as a native avant-gardist, personifying the American independent will as much as any artist of the last century."

If I had a nickel for every time Franz Ferdinand was involved in the precursor events of a world war, I’d have two nickels, which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird it happened twice
So far the war on Iran has cost $9.4 billion.
That's $1 billion per day.
$41,666,667 per hour.
$11,574 per second.
Thousands of lives lost.
People don't want this. They want a living wage. They want healthcare. They want to be able to afford a home. They want their basic needs met.

1960 was such a wild year for film: The Apartment, Psycho, Breathless, La Dolce Vita, Trou, Rocco and His Brothers, and much more.
I saw The Apartment 4k restoration on the big screen a couple of years ago, the outdoor scenes are incredible.
