(I mean, yep, I'm good with AI too, but it does not mean I am going to throw the editor baby out with the bathwater)

seen in a local slack today (someone being a wannabe AI Coolkid) "why do we even use IDEs?" ... and (big eye roll here.. ) .. sheesh, stop it, just stop.

Some are so overhyped that they're getting ridiculous. AI is a tool. IDEs are a tool. Lots of things are tools. Chill, man. Use what works.

I wrote something a bit different: "Digress"

Fork Claude Code sessions like git branches

It's a wrapper for Mac / Applescript and iTerm2, and pushes new shells of Claude, when you want to pursue a side quest :)

*It has the context of its parent*

toy project / have fun

I wrote Digress!
It is like "git for conversations with Claude"

When you dont want to lose your train of thought, digress spawns a new claude terminal, which has all of the context of the parent.

Mac only, iTerm2, uses AppleScript. It's a toy project, have fun!

most confusing thing I have seen today (from some YT vid):

"Claude is sponsoring this video. Here is my special link to Claude"... and... no discount? Hello? Like, why?

I mean, if you're going to have a special link, do what Diggnation did .... 50% off for 1st 3 months, etc.

I would love the option of longer posts.

to those who are not into it.. a little seeekret for ya:

"you can still write a bundle of short posts" 😜

Yes, perhaps someone you like will dive into the pool of long posting, but if you like them, you'll keep following them, ya?

Vault Groups
I mean, I can fake it with:

~/Obsidian/SomeWrapperDir
vault1 -> /usr/local/projects/vault1
vault2 -> /usr/local/projects/vault2

and point at the wrapper as a vault root.. it works, but would be nice to have "add dir to vault".

.. my takeaways are that I do have slightly different versions for ATS / text versus docx / pdf.

I only did a super clean text-only ATS version because my theory is: the smartest hiring manager might inadvertently be behind the dumbest ATS.

so I went through this whole rigamarole of having my resume in markdown and spitting it out to plain text with pandoc (still needed cleanup) and it was even worse for docx, and...
... deep breath...
I ended up having to tweak a lot in macOS Pages...

Two takes:
* it's happening fast, so it's tough to keep up – AI blur and burnout is a real thing
* At the moment, a lot of the hucksters from the Web3 space have migrated to shilling AI, outrageous claims and over hyping is their currency. It's a lot of noise to filter out.

the version scheme, shared design language (liquid glass), and the flow of features across platforms are all wins.

for the month of July:
* please, no new AI releases of anything
* we all stop paying attention to "the latest"
* we use the month just to catch up and breathe

Was hoping that Beats Flex would be good headphones for walks

15 minutes with them, and I'm sending them back!

So so sound. Bad fit (tried 3 different eartips). Strange access to controls. Eh, the wired earbuds that came with my iPhone from 10 years ago sound better...

Ordered an off-brand.
