6 Danish-Norwegian gunboats, commanded by Lieutenant Jørgen C. de Falsen, conquers the 12-gun cutter HMS ALBAN off the island of Læsø in Kattegat without losses. HMS Alban had 2 killed including its commander, Lt Samuel Thomas, and 3 wounded.

From around 1811, Napoleon wanted to introduce the Roman punishment of 'decimation' in his military.
Groups he wished to punish - mutinous regiments, gangs of deserters etc. - would draw lots, & one in ten would be executed.
It isn't clear whether it was ever actually carried out.
#OTD 3 September 1813 a 🇩🇰Danish-🇳🇴Norwegian gun boat squadron with 7 gunboats under 1st Lt Martin C. Klaumann defended a position off Büsum in the Elbe against 10 Royal Navy gunboats and 4 launches. The 🏴flotilla fled after 4.5 hrs combat with loss of two destroyed gunboats.
