In case you want to read something a little punchy this morning. In this double book review I make the case that evangelicals probably aren’t going to be the ones to give the most meaningful critiques of evangelicalism.

Hopefully some scholars will write about why public CEO infidelity at a Coldplay concert can save the morale of a dying nation. Seriously, I’d read that.

On X, my sister (running for judge) was targeted by a right-wing hate group. About 150 of the comments insulted her appearance, sexuality, or gender. I reported the 10 worst comments to the site. The over/under for how many will be disciplined by X is 1. (I should say we’re 0 for the first 5.)

We will never stop talking about DEI — Harbor Online Community Certain words (like diversity, equity, and inclusion) have been banned for government employees. We’ll just have to talk about them even more.

If government employees are going to be banned from talking about DEI, I guess the rest of us should talk about the ways that equitable and inclusive communities of diversity are diversifying in the name of inclusive equity and equitable inclusivity, diversely and equitably and inclusively.

Just in time for this polar vortex, our furnace went down to about 50% functionality. So we’re trying to survive.

I do not recommend icebox living, seriously zero stars, BUT having a space heater cranking when you step out of the shower may be the innovation humanity’s been waiting for.

Glad you like this piece! We got some interesting pushback from pastors (mostly from large politically purple LGBTQ-affirming UMC churches in rust belt states) suggesting Bantum is wrong because of their church’s experience.
