The morning walk along the road in the other direction. This section goes along cow pastures, some forested patches and a small holder tea farm. There is a hibiscus bush that has beautiful double pink flowers growing along the fence. You have to wonder why it is there. Did it seed naturally?

2 native white hibiscus are in bloom. These eventually turn into small trees. You can see the blooms on either side of the Hong Kong orchid tree (1st photo) which is just leafing out w/1 pink "orchid." Later they will get covered in white flowers. Why I refer to this area as the "White Forest."

One of the local ranchers set a trap for mongooses. This is the second one he's caught. Unfortunately he caught our cat also who ended up spending the night in the trap unharmed but not happy. They called us in the morning so we picked Tuxedo up. Now he's home, fed and happy.

There is a hibiscus bush that grows in a hedgerow alongside the road. It has faintly pink flowers. Very unusual.

So this is what the garden looks like today.

Still using a portion of one of the greenhouses to dry wood. Since we are doing it passively it takes a long time. The other portion of the greenhouse has tomatoes.

He was misidentified by the seller. We had noted that he was more colorful than the others but none of the male characteristics were showing yet. But that rapidly changed as it started crowing and taking a more aggressive attitude. Feathers started coming out too. Legs were more robust too.

So we got two new chickens today to replace one that died and one that was turning out to be rooster. They both are black with iridescent blue highlights. This is their outdoor enclosure until we can get them integrated with the rest of the flock.
