Tricolor ginger starting to bloom. This is only supposed to grow 18-30 inches tall but like many things, it gets much bigger here in the rainforest. It is nearly six feet tall. The New Guinea Impatiens are more than 3 feet tall.

Vireya in bloom and flushing out new growth. They love do love it when you get periods of rain.

Various species of Rhapis Palms growing at the edge of the rainforest. The differences are obvious in the fronds and later growth habit will emphasize the differences.

It's ranges from comfortable to warmish to cool to downright chilly when it is cold (ie 50F at night for us is freezing...LOL) but that's what happens when the temperatures in a place fall within a relatively narrow range. By island standards even 60F is subarctic...LOL. It hits 80F 0-3year.

They can grow at a much lower elevation but they love the misty highlands. They can't take too much heat and they can't really take cold. They prefer humidity also. The temps in the highlands here are rarely below 50F (10C) and never above 80F (26.7 C) mostly daytimes are 60sF and 70sF year round.
