Bulgaria received a final green light from both the European Parliament and the Council today, making it the 21st country to join the eurozone on 1/1/2026! 💶
Enjoyed moderating the press conference today w/ rapporteur Eva Maydell.
I welcome today's decision paving the way for Bulgaria to join the Eurozone.
The euro brings prosperity and stability.
This is another great leap for the people of Bulgaria and Europe following the country's entry to the Schengen earlier this year 🇪🇺🇧🇬

🚨 Big news: the European Commission launches a formal investigation into TikTok over the platform's role in Romania's (cancelled) presidential election.
The Commission suspects TikTok breached the DSA by failing to "mitigate systemic risks linked to election integrity."
Plenary will also vote next Wed (18/12) on the mandate, number of members & term of office of the new standing & special committees, following today's decision by political group leaders (including a special committee on European Democracy Shield)
