Yeah, no way anyone rates Tomahawk third in that list.

"We try our best," I said. "And we know that you do, too."

Y'all, her face lit up like that was the biggest compliment she'd received in long time. It may have been.

Wednesday and I stop by a Wawa every Saturday morning to get a post-karate class snack, and the tattooed and pierced woman who restocks the hot food has come to expect us. She had made hashbrowns and Wednesday's favorite sandwich (double bacon) fresh.

"You two are always so pleasant," she said.

Hays Code was self enforced! So was Comics Code Authority! These weren’t laws and look what still lasted DECADES and destroyed careers/freedom of expression. US comics industry never recovered from it bc comics aimed at adults still aren’t a thing, that’s why manga filled the market gap.

It is so hard to be trans right now, y’all. Like, I can’t speak for everyone but I’m white-knuckling it pretty much constantly at this point. I hope cis people are understanding how much is at stake for us in this moment: It’s literally our right to exist as ourselves that is being stripped away.

I always liked that Avengers era in the 90s where they all wore brown leather jackets over their costumes with an "A" patch on the sleeve. A nice uniting element.

You can't do that with every superhero team, but it worked for them.

Cover of Galaxy: The Prettiest Star - very colorful and featuring the main character, Galaxy, with her teal hair floating in the wind, and her companion dog Argus sitting next to her. Cover of I Shall Never Fall in Love, showing the three main characters sitting down on the grass, wearing Regency clothes. Cover of Mooncakes, showing the two main characters against a soft yellow background. Cover of Ink Girls, showing the three main characters above an historical cityscape.

So let's start with comics, shall we!

- Galaxy: The Prettiest Star, by Jadzia Axelrod and Vash Taylor;
- I Shall Never Fall in Love, by Hari Conner;
- Mooncakes, by Wendy Xu and Suzanne Walker;
- Ink Girls, by Marieke Nijkamp and Sylvia Bi;

The #TransRightsReadathon starts next week!

The readathon encourages readers to seek out books by and about trans, nonbinary, 2Spirit, and gender noncomforming authors and characters.

While I decide which books I'll be reading, here's a list with recommendations! #TRR26

A bright page that reads "Stopping climate change starts here" with 6 things you can do 1) Switch your electricity supplier to a renewable energy source 2) Take public transit 3) Get solar panels 4) Make your house more energy efficieny by improving insulation and using energy efficient applicances 5) Reducing food waste 6) Participate in a sharing economy. Then a block of text says
"Slowing climate change can seem like such a massive issue that people often feel powerless to do anything. When we work together as a city, we can make changes that add up. Every reduction in CO2 emissions makes a difference, for our health and the for ability of our wildlife to adapt to the new normal. The best thing would be for the federal government to step up, but we know we can'y rely on them for the next few years. For now, it's up to us. No one of us needs to do all of these things, but doing any of these things helps. You can ask city officials to 1) Fund septa 2) Fund green energy 3) require buildings be eco-friendly 4) Plant more trees.

There are a bunch of animals taking these actions like a raccoon on the subway, a possum reheating leftovers, a fox watering her native plants and a beaver building solar panels

We worked together on the Philly Biodiversity zine- he did the page on Climate Change!

His adorable characters are all over poles in the city, in bar bathrooms, wheatpasted all over, and in almost everyone's sticker collections.

I was lucky to have known him and worked with him.

a man in glasses and a button up shirt stands in front of a brightly colored mural, featuring the El Toro character, a orange guy with horns

A foundational member of the Philly street art community died on Saturday. We all found out as a community Wednesday & have been reeling ever since.

Justin, or as most knew him, El Toro, was SO positive & an incredibly supportive community member. I can't wrap my head around our scene without him.
