Heartbroken to learn a gunman in Reno murdered two Thousand Oaks residents, Andrew Canepa and Justin Agulia; killed another man from Reno; and injured two others from Thousand Oaks. Canepa co-owned the Side Street Cafe, a community institution in Newbury Park. Aguila was an IBEW electrician. (1/2)

nb. Some of the prefab and 3D housing now going in after the Palisades and Eaton fires is being done under emergency permits. I don't know that the regular CA codes – which have stricter fire and sustainability requirements than other states – allow 3D printed homes. Not sure, though.

This week I signed a series of letters signaling the city's positions on federal and state bills that would affect sustainability, resiliency, and housing in Thousand Oaks. We work with @leagueofcities and @calcities to develop policy positions that best serve city residents and businesses.

Congratulations to Ian Matthies, TO’s newest Eagle Scout! For his Eagle project, Ian built a rest area and information kiosk in Hill Canyon on COSCA land. And Ian is one of only about 50 Scouts each year to earn a National Outdoor Medal, befitting his deep interest in forestry and the outdoors.

The city actively supports homelessness reporting and cleanup of PFAS ("forever") chemicals, but has concerns about unintended consequences of these particular proposals. Working with the League of California Cities, we hope to see these bills amended to address our concerns. (2/2)
