Affecting 25 customers in Thousand Oaks, Southern California Edison advises that a public safety power shutoff (PSPS) event is possible on Sunday, 10/12 between 6 am and noon. This is on the Brennan circuit, which mainly serves Moorpark, Simi Valley, and the Santa Rosa Valley. More info at sce.com.

A common misconception is that Code Compliance staff drive around looking for violations. In fact, residents initiate all code complaints.

McKay lost her younger brother to the disease at a time when there was no treatment. Her 6-year-old son Charlie also has Hunter syndrome, but treatments are available now – including ones made right here in TO – that mean a better quality of life for Charlie, Kristen, and many, many others. (3/3)

As the TO delegate to the Clean Power Alliance, I always look forward to CPA’s annual offsite board meeting. This year we discussed three topics that will make energy cleaner and ultimately less expensive:

To mark the beginning of autumn, it’s a tradition for Telugu Hindu women celebrate with a flower festival called Bathukamma. This year I was privileged to join Kulwant Singh, the Indian consul for Southern California, for the celebration at TOHS. (1/2)

Executive director Denise Cortes and the entire Harbor House team work tirelessly to find housing for Thousand Oaks' most vulnerable residents. At a fundraiser today, she made the essential point that the best way to address homelessness is to prevent it from happening to begin with.

MANDO is dedicated to breaking the cycle of crime and incarceration for at-risk youth. Thanks to MANDO, kids learn a better way – and learn they matter.

Underground lines reduce fire risk, improve power reliability, and ensure water availability during emergencies. The work will not require any tree removals. (2/2)

Tonight the Conejo Open Space Conservation Agency board voted unanimously to grant an easement to SCE, allowing it to replace about 8,850 feet of overhead power lines with underground lines to feed an existing Calleguas MWD water pressure regulating station. (1/2)

9/11 was catastrophic: Thousands of lives lost, illness for thousands more, assaults on civil liberties, and foreign-policy disasters we’re still dealing with.
