05.12.2025 17:36 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Minority opinion, but I love the cold, the colder the better. Bundle up, head out, listen to the crunch and squeak of the snow underfoot. The moon overhead. Perfect.
05.12.2025 04:21 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The cold supermoon hangs over a two storey house, in which one second floor window displays a lit up star. Stars are visible in the sky, and the rooftops are covered in snow.
Beautiful photo. I love these clear, cold nights.
It's -4F here right now. A proper winter night.

A house with a snow covered roof, a wreath hung and strung with lights, and a large window through which is seen a lit up Christmas tree.
Candles in brass candle holders burn, casting a warm light.
Pine boughs strung with lights frame a lit up star hanging in a window.
Wherever you are tonight, I hope you're just as cozy as we are right now.
honestly though I don't like your chances because we are crazy cozy
It's great when they don't go to waste!

27.11.2025 01:07 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Said Young when asked to identify the town in this line, "It's actually a couple of towns. Omemee, Ontario, is one of them."
Dan, I could get in my car and be in Omemee in 15 minutes. "North Ontario" it ain't.
Yes! Though this news report originates from the NS side, but this all suggests an alarming reliance on the digital hallucination machine, at least in Atlantic Canada if not all of planet Earth.
26.11.2025 13:50 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Has the Magic 8-Ball been consulted, CBC? What about the Oracle at Delphi?
26.11.2025 13:43 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0LLMs don't know things! They spit back language soup designed to look like an answer. They have NO expertise, but the more we legitimize them by asking them to weigh in on stuff, the more trust they'll amass, and then we won't be able to discern good info from bad, and then we'll be screwed. Moreso.
26.11.2025 13:42 β π 4 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The same article -- in the previous few paragraphs! -- solicits the input of Tim Webster, a geomatics researcher at Nova Scotia Community College. A human expert! An authority! Then the reporter "asked ChatGPT," which is strange, or lazy, or an act of journalistic malpractice, take your pick.

24.11.2025 16:06 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0We planned the whole thing ourselves, honed some skills, learned from a few mistakes and (I can't stress enough how big this part is) used tools together. He loves it, I love that he loves it, it's great. As long as a teenager of mine is willing to spend time with me, I'll gladly take on projects.
24.11.2025 16:06 β π 3 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0A built-in bed made of lumber and plywood, with shelves at either end that extend to the ceiling and frame a large window. The bed features two large rolling drawers at floor level. Everything is bolted into the walls (sorry, future owners of this house). This thing is SOLID.
For 14 yrs our twin boys shared a room, then their older sister left for uni (then came back, we renovated, everyone's happy). T got his own bed in her old room, but C was on a mattress on the floor for a year. So he and I built this. It was super fun to do, and we got to hang out + use power tools.
24.11.2025 16:02 β π 6 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I long ago lost faith in the Academy to get things right. Their aversion to comedy (and rats, and puppets) also screwed Rizzo out of a supporting actor nod.
23.11.2025 13:57 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Michael Caine as Ebenezer Scrooge ignores Kermit the frog and a rat in a waistcoat.
Kicking off the season with a viewing of The Muppet Christmas Carol, as is customary, and struck once again by its brilliance which lies squarely with Michael Caine's decision to play it straight, despite the fact that he's playing opposite a bunch of wisecracking pieces of felt.
