How ironic that the Manchester Diocesan Web site has the strap line 'we are a church for a different world'.

I'm sure they can be useful & the recommended scripture readings are actually pretty good; what is insulting is their separate existence and ambivalence? coyness? is treating LGBT people as very much second class Christians and their love as inferior to that of heterosexuals.

Indeed. Using CW blessing of a civil marriage suitably adapted is much preferable to the frankly insulting prayers in PLF.

I suspect because a 'stand alone' service could then resemble a wedding (which it's true, they do), which might frighten the hors, sorry, conservatives. It's unusual (if not unheard of) to have a wedding inside a scheduled service.
