It seems obvious that Kimmel, Colbert, et al could easily turn to streaming podcasts/ networks and probably make more then they did on network TV. Meanwhile, the Networks are more or less losing the 18 to 30 demographic. They’ll be left to air reruns of The Golden Girls. Terrestrial TV is finished.

The next time you find yourself in a situation where you have to be in a conversation with somebody who is clearly far right leaning, ask them a simple question. "What was the last book you read". Anecdotally, I've done this several times and I always get a blank stare. Interesting.

The TV show “Survivor” promotes competition and deception among the contestants. Not cooperation as you would in a true emergency. Now think of how so many people are treating each other today. Also remember that that Trump was a game show host with a similar way of having people treat each other.

When I was in college (back in the Nixon years) we read Hitler and Mussolini's screeds along with more respected political theorists. (Note here that Marx sort of straddled the divide) It was the only way to get a handle on the flaws in their thinking.

When you write to feed your family, it's nice to have somewhere else to encounter folks. Pointing us to your latest work, and some older stuff, is fun but it's also nice to just have a chat now and then.

Happy Birthday Jerry Garcia. When I watch this video I can't help but think that Jerry, Jimmy and David are having one hell of a jam on the other side.

I think to most appropriate response would be for the "victim" to shout as loudly as possible: "STOP VIOLATING MY FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHTS!"
