Every time I repost this, another person tells me they’ve enjoyed it so much that it’s prompted them to order the book, and I make one more minuscule step to recuperating the vast amount of earnings my ex-publisher took from me.

On our way out of the park we told everyone we passed that there was a glitch in the paddle-pop odds, and I remember being quite confused that grownups were not as excited about this potential windfall as I thought they ought to be. They acted like you could just have a paddle-pop any time you liked

If I recall correctly the initiating incident was that we found a $2 coin in the sand.

I think between us we ate about twelve before hubris got us and we tried for a rainbow paddle-pop

Today I’m remembering the time my twin brother and I hit the jackpot buying a chocolate paddle-pop from the van-cafe at the park and for some reason the ice cream factory had borked the randomisation of the prize-sticks and every stick won us a free paddle-pop
